Welcome to our guest home “Le Clos Robert”
(pronounced le klo robair)
This guesthouse is a part of an old French farm. Many
walls are authentic, made from “Pierres” (pronounced “piairs”),
of lime sandstone. Of course the entire house has been beautifully
renovated and modernized to meet the needs of all of our guests. The
farm lies on a through road, but the accommodation is at the back
of the house. On 3 sides there are beautiful fields. Every year there
is a magnificent view of sunflowers, maize, corn and rapeseed. It
is really picturesque and very quiet and peaceful here. Thanks to
the dark bedrooms, which have shutters and automatic ventilation systems,
it stays very cool in summer and almost everyone oversleeps! If you
keep the shutters open, you will be pleasantly woken up by the sound
of the neighbour’s cockerel. There is a large terrace available
with lovely garden furniture You can have your own privacy, a sunny
terrace but also plenty of shade. On this coast there is no pollution
and the air is clean.
On the other side of the road is the start of the ‘Marais’
which we call “polder” (it is not swampy). Beyond the
dunes are the fertile fields. We are slightly above sea level, so
we also have a good view at this side of the house over an officially
protected landscape. The most beautiful beach in the Vendee you can
reach in just ten minutes by car.
The Vendee has almost as many sun hours as the Côte
d’Azur. On average you can count on it being about 5 degrees
C warmer than it is in England, but it remains a sea climate.
